Exciting News for Cebu’s Power Supply!

Thrilled to announce a groundbreaking collaboration between the Cebu Provincial Government and Acciona Energia Global, S.L. and Freya Renewables Inc. for a 170MW Solar Power Plant in Daanbantayan, Cebu. This landmark initiative aims to enhance the province’s power supply and avert potential shortages.

Signed on Oct. 12, 2023, the MOU outlines AEG-Freya’s commitment to constructing the solar power plant at no cost to the Provincial Government. With the largest power supplier in Europe on board, this project is set to be the first of its kind in the Philippines, bringing in cheaper renewable energy.

Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia expressed optimism about the partnership, highlighting its mutual benefits. As the project progresses, the Province stands ready to provide support, fostering collaboration with communities, utilities, and the Department of Energy.

Upon completion, the solar power plant will not only ensure a stable power supply but also generate income for the Province through a revenue percentage share from electricity sales.
